RED Aware Campaign

In 2011 the TIME RED Aware Campaign was launched. It was part of a nationwide initiative to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS. The response to the event was incredible;with tickets selling out quickly and local media outlets picking up the story. The campaign included involvement from Oxfam UQ, QLD Health and the Ethics Communities Council of Queensland.

The event involves:

  • RED Aware Day – held at University of Queensland St Lucia campus. This is an event creating a tangible difference in terms of the awareness of HIV/AIDS and education for UQ students.
  • RED Aware Party – This red-themed event was used to raise funds for HIV/AIDS treatment and prevention programs overseas and HIV/AIDS research at home, through the Queensland Institute of Medical Research.

We have high ambitions for the event in 2012, with it being one of the stand-out events on the university calendar, both socially and in the context of raising funds and awareness for HIV/AIDS.
