2012 Fashion Show

The TIME Charity Fashion Show will return this August for its sixth year, showcasing some of Brisbane's most influential up-and-coming and established creative talents in the fields of fashion, music and photography. To be held at The MET in the Valley on Friday 24th of August, the show will profile Brisbane's innovative and eclectic character; while raising funds to purchase essential medical equipment and supplies for struggling medical centres in developing countries around the world.

The show will feature seven collections by:

  • Billabong Designer of the Year, Rhaman Donovan;
  • Holly Ryan Jewellery, a recent QUT Fashion graduate who has blown away the Brisbane fashion scene with her beautiful handcrafted silver jewellery (notably being acquired by exclusive boutique, Blonde Venus);
  • Sunday Social Vintage, a local of the ever vibrant and eclectic Winn Lane, offerring the best in vintage clothes;
  • Jacqueline Curran, QUT Fashion graduate and 2012 QUT/Westfield Couture Academy winner.
  • Danni Stonehouse from The Brisbane Arts Theatre, Queensland's longest running community theatre company;
  • Katrina Gaskin, whose 2011 lingerie collection was recognised by QUT as one of their top graduate collections;
  • Kate Anderson, an MSIT graduate who has impressed with her mix of classic silhouettes and fantastic new designs.

The show has also collaborated with photographer Henry Coughlin. Henry Coughlin was named Queensland Photography Student of the Year in 2011 and since graduating has been recognised with seven Queensland AIPP awards, four national AIPP awards and numerous international awards.

Headlining the show will be up and coming Brisbane band, Astrid & The Asteroids. Having released their debut EP in January of this year, Astrid & The Asteroids have returned from their hugely successful East Coast tour, with Rave Magazine observing that the band have “raised the bar stratospherically high.” Also performing at the show is Brisbane band, Hven. Emerging from the hidden crevasses of Brisbane's underground this June, Hven have made a big impression on the local scene. Taking influence from such bands as The Cure and Daft Punk, Hven write music that is engaging and thoroughly easy to dance to.

Proceeds from the show go towards supporting not for profit organisation, Towards International Medical Equality (TIME). TIME's flagship project purchases essential medical equipment and supplies for struggling medical centres in developing countries around the world.
