About TIME
“Global health is a field of education, research and practice committed to improvement in health for all people, with a focus on equity. It emphasizes transnational heath issues, determinants and solutions; involves collaboration between many health and non-health disciplines; and is a synthesis of population-based prevention with individual-based clinical care.”
TIME is a not-for-profit organisation for UQ students with an interest in global health
Towards International Medical Equality (TIME) is a student-run organization that is committed to the promotion and establishment of equitable health care at home and abroad. TIME was established in 2005 by a group of students at the University of Queensland (UQ) who saw an opportunity to incorporate global health outreach into their elective experiences. From this idea, an organization dedicated to equitable health care grew. TIME is a formally registered organisation under the UQ Union.
In partnership with a number of professional organisations both in Australia and developing communities, we run projects in Medical Aid, Refugee Health, Rural and Indigenous Health, Maternal Health and Environmental Health. We are also active in advocacy and education on issues in global health.
Students and alumni from all backgrounds, degrees and year levels are welcome to be involved.
